Chairmans winter overview

What a dull and wet winter we have had - as I write there are, thank goodness, signs of a modest improvement! Although some of our outdoor work has been curtailed, a lot has been happening inside our buildings. Dean Knights and his helpers have been working very hard on Andrew Barclay 'Lord Fisher', an update on the latest developments can be found in this newsletter.

In other Locomotive news, Peckett 'Pectin' has passed its annual cold examination and awaits an ' in steam' inspection in early March. The Ruston 'River Yeo' and Fowler 'Cockney Rebel' both have some engine issues which are being resolved in our 'quiet time'. Meanwhile Fowler 'Sam' is proving a reliable engine. (Editors Note: If anything unexpected happens to Sam we know who is to blame!)

The Wessex Wagons team have already attended Frome and Weston-Super-Mare model railway exhibitions with good success. James has built a TT120 gauge layout which has interested many visitors. A couple of new designs for that gauge will be released soon.

Work is also underway on the track, Café, Chard signalling panel and much more.

As previously mentioned we are in need of a new Treasurer as Tony wishes to relinquish this role soon. There must be someone amongst our members (or friends) who can take this on. Please get in touch for a chat about what is required and the ongoing assistance available. Also, help in the Café is sought to boost the number of Volunteers in this area. I look forward to hearing from you.
