A team of volunteers packed up a miniature locomotive and set off for Yesterday’s Farming, the popular vintage machinery rally held near Langport. Amid the ploughing matches, working threshers and rows of beautifully kept tractors we had a small stall.

The primary aim was to raise awareness of YRC. A great many visitors to Yesterday’s Farming live only a few miles from Yeovil Junction and have never known there's a working turntable, a demonstration railway, and a shed full of restored locomotives sitting behind the station. The miniature loco did the job a leaflet alone couldn't: it stopped people mid-stride, started conversations, and gave the volunteers on the stand an easy way to explain what the Centre actually is.
